Remember!
For the first 4 months of life, your baby needs no solid food. And, you should not give her cow's milk until she is 1 year old. Breast milk is by far the best food for your baby. The benefits of breast-feeding are many:
For baby...
- breast milk provides perfect nutrition.
- breast milk gives your baby special protection against serious illnesses.
- there is a special closeness (bonding) to you.
- less colic because breast milk is easy to digest
- fewer allergies.
- fewer colds, flu and ear infections.
- breast-feeding promotes hand-eye coordination.
For mom...
- breast-feeding promotes a special closeness.
- Nighttime feedings are quick and easy.
- rental breast pumps are available which allow baby to get breast milk when you go out or return to work.
- breast milk is always available at just the right temperature.
- breast-feeding saves money (formula costs at least $25 a week) - you will have more
- money to spend on you and your baby.
- reminder: avoid alcohol and cigarettes while breast-feeding - it will affect your baby.
My baby depends on me for love and comfort.
