Parenting Now!™ is a positive strength-based curriculum, designed to be inviting to a wide range of parents with young children. The curriculum helps parents identify and integrate their values into daily and long-range parenting, with an emphasis on respecting their child as a unique individual. In addition to the prevention of child abuse, the vision of Birth To Three, Success By 6® and the Parenting Now!™ program is that parents will build a positive, enjoyable and healthy relationship with their children, providing a solid foundation throughout their lives.
The Parenting Now!™ curriculum is intended for use in parenting groups led by trained volunteers and offered through local community sites, such as churches, service clubs or neighborhood centers. Volunteers should receive training on curriculum instruction, group leadership and how to identify parents in need of more intensive assistance, with such issues as drug and alcohol, mental health or child abuse intervention.

Curriculum Outline
Parenting Now!™ is a seven week series of classes that build on themselves, although any one lesson could be used separately. Lessons are designed for a two-hour period.
- Lesson One: Taking Care of Ourselves and Parenting Expectations

- Lesson Three: Preventative Discipline Tools Ð The Starter Set
- Lesson Four: Communication Skills / Understanding Feelings
- Lesson Five: Discipline: A Parent Toolbox Ð Behavior Tools

- Lesson Seven: Bringing it All Back Home
Success By 6® Initiative
Our Mission: To mobilize Lane County families, organizations and communities in a unified effort to assure that all our children are safe, healthy, cherished and enter school ready to learn. The Success By 6â initiative has a specific focus of significantly reducing child abuse and neglect in Lane County. The effort is prevention. It is about developing partnerships and is backed by the support of business, faith, medical, health and human service, school and volunteer communities. We share a sense of urgency regarding the importance of children's early years, and a belief that parents are key in shaping children's lives. Parenting Now!™, a universal parenting education curriculum, is key to this prevention effort.
