Call SCF First To Report Non-Emergencies
If you are wanting to report a suspected child abuse situation that is not an emergency, contact SCF at the number listed below Monday - Friday 8-5,
For Example:
- Physical abuse
- Neglect
- Mental injury or emotional maltreatment
- Sexual abuse
- Other situations involving imminent (but not immediate) danger to the child
SCF's job is to assess the risk to the child. Your call starts an assessment about the total health and welfare of a child by staff skilled in talking with children and families. Services to Children and Families will evaluate all calls. When SCF is able to respond (to everything that meets criteria) with a field contact, typically, that will be within 3 days. Response to all other calls will be on a priority basis within 7 days, or a report will be filed. SCF may work with police in situations of immediacy, and may also follow up on calls made to police.

Will My Report Be Confidential?
The reporter's identity will remain confidential to the full extent allowable by law. If court action is initiated, the reporting person may be called as a witness or the court may order that the reporter's name be disclosed. Only people with firsthand knowledge of the child's situation can provide testimony proving that abuse has occurred.
